This past Saturday a dear friend of mine tied the knot in
Key West, Florida at the lovely
Ernest Hemingway house. Before the beachy nuptials, my friends and I had a chance to explore the Florida keys and soak in some much needed sunshine. I'm from L.A. so I do get plenty of sunshine, but it's much more enjoyable when you're sitting poolside with a strawberry daquiri.
(Mmm...) As we walked along Duval street I couldn't help but be inspired by all the bright island colors. Gleaming aqua, sea greens, Florida orange punctured with rich yellows and coral. It's pretty evident where my inspiration for this vintage fashion style board comes from! But why a beachside picnic, you ask? Well, instead of a traditional meal for the wedding reception at the
Oldest House & Garden in Key West, our friends opted for sliders, veggie flatbreads, fresh fruit, and fried little morsels of mahi-mahi and shrimp with island flavors
(mango, coconut, ginger, yum!). It really made me think of top notch picnic food, so hence, the inspiration!
